-Book Match: This is a very rare offering in an industry that primarily only offers slip match for Alder Body Blanks.  Kimball Hardwoods controls the logs right at the source allowing us to cut true book match sets and offer to you, the customer.

-“Rainbow Spalted” Alder: This is a term used for Alder wood that has a multi colored appearance as well as some spalting. This is not a different species of Alder. It is a carefully controlled staining process that is all natural with No added chemicals or dyes. This process is very labor intensive and takes 8 additional months to create. This process is extremely risky for wood suppliers to try an attempt to emulate these incredible results. If not done correctly the wood can easily be rendered useless. “Do Not Try This at Home”

 

Drop Top Sets Explained

-1 Drop Top Set: If you are receiving one drop top set, it is for one of two reasons. 

• The book match face is clean where as the back side may be clean but just has an un-uniformed color to it. This will allow you to chamber or thickness the body to your specifications.  Once complete you can glue the top on the back side.
  
• You may have a clean book match face but the back side of the set          may have knots or defects that need to be covered up with the drop top set.  This application also gives you the ability to chamber and thickness before glueing the drop top.

-2 Drop Top Sets:  If you are receiving two drop top sets, it is for one of these two reasons.

• Either you purchased a multi piece body blank where you can now thickness and chamber, but also create a “sandwich style build”. Meaning you cover up the front and the back of you body blank.  Only painting required will be side and end grain of your build.

• You have purchased a two piece blank that has defects on the front and back which you now can cover up. Thickness and chambering capabilities apply to this as well.
